Party Decorating

Do you have a party to organise? No matter the occasion, party planning can be a stressful task. There are lots of different things to think of and you want to make sure everyone has fun and remembers the party for years to come. The important thing is to make sure that you don’t get overwhelmed. After all, you too want to sit back and enjoy the fun! So here is a handy guide to make sure your party goes off without a hitch.

Firstly, you need to decide where and when you are going to have your party. You might like to host your party from home, which is always great fun for guests and hosts alike. However, it might come with added expense and cleaning up so it is worth considering if you want to take that on. Booking a venue is a great option as it means you can walk away when the party is done, and leave the clean up to the professionals. However, you may want to book well in advance to ensure you get the date you want. There are pros and cons to both, but once you’ve made this all-important decision, the rest will fall into place.

Next, you need to have guests to throw a party! So let your family and friends know by sending them an invite. You can easily find invitations in party shops for every occasion, and some may even personalise them for you which adds a special touch. You can also make it very easy on yourself by simply sending out a group text to all the guests, but make sure to ask for an RSVP so you get an idea of the numbers.

A party isn’t a party without two things – A cake and some balloons! Whether you’re a star baker and are going to create your own masterpiece, or you’re ordering a cake from a bakery, there are lots of cake decorations available to purchase to match your cake to the occasion and theme. For a Birthday party, candles are always appropriate. For everything else, there’s cake toppers! Personalised Cake toppers are also a great option as these can be made to order to suit the occasion and the person being celebrated. Printed icing is also great fun as you can print the person’s photograph, a message or images of their hobby or interests on the top of the cake. There’s lots of options with the cake, and remember that it too is a party decoration.

Balloons make a party. Whether it’s for a Birthday, Religious occasion, Hen or Stag party, Retirement or other – balloons will get the party started! Balloons are available in a choice of foil or latex, hundreds of colours, sizes, shapes and styles to suit every celebration. A good place to start is by looking at the venue and deciding how many balloons you will need. A good rule of thumb is to tie together 2 or 3 balloons in a bunch, with a bunch for each table. You can save money by placing a bunch of balloons on every second table, while still filling the room with colour. You will find balloons printed for every occasion, or if you prefer plain you can choose colours that will complement each other. Larger balloons look fantastic tied at floor length and can be placed at the entrance to your venue to welcome guests.

Finally, adding finishing touches such as confetti, napkins and some banners will complete the party decoration. Now all that’s left is to Celebrate it!

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
